Well growing up as kid I remember listening to this song on Shiv Jayanti. We would celebrate that in our building and I would have this warm and cozy feeling in me. Well if you know about Chatrapati Shivaji Raje and Maratha Empire or if you happen to be maharashtrian then you would know the context of what I am talking. Well too bad for the others, but let me break it down for everyone.
Songs for me is just not about entertainment but about mother tongue connecting with Marathi mati (soil), (connecting with mother land) , bravery and sacrifice. Well more so now, as staying away from you home country you always miss all small and big things.
But last time I was in India, I picked CD and now the song is on my iPod. Well now I find myself listening to this song once a while. Very touchy lyrics and nicely sung my Anandghana and it is from movie Maratha tituka melwawa. I have not seen the movie.
I am not even going to try to converted lyrics of this song to English as I tried for this poetry two posts ago. I think I won’t be able to do justice with the song.

Nice nostalgic memories. This song was sung by Hridaynath Mangeshkar and the music director is Adandghan. This was the name Lata Mangeshkar used to provide music direction. The family needed money and she had the talent.
Using a psuedoname was a good idea. Had she used her own name, then the rest of the music directors would have considered her a threat and would have dropped her as a signer as well. It was early in her career and she needed her singing career to go on.
Hemant Kumar had the same problem. He had a booming career as a singer till he started composing music.
